Ocotepeque!!


Heyo!

Transfers were on Wednesday and they were interesting.  We got the call Monday night that we were both being transferred. I was sad to have to say goodbye to some awesome people in Castaños.  The change was interesting because they closed my area, because 1) there were 3 companionships in a ward with an attendance of 120, 2) A lot of missionaries went home last change, and only 6 came in. So, they had to figure out what to do with all of that.
So, I showed up to the changes with my suitcases and all ready to go. My old trainer (who is now one of the secretaries), came up to me and told me that I was going to an area called Ocotepeque. What I knew about that area when he told me was, that it was in the Zone Copan, and really far away. I was super excited. We jumped on the bus to Copan, that was basically a school bus, with a bunch of other missionaries, and I saw one of my friends from the first ward I was in that was training at the same time as me. We started on the trip and slowly every missionary started getting off the bus until there was just 4 of us left when we all got off in Santa Rosa. The other Elder and I found his new comp and my new comp, and then we ate lunch, because it was about 1 and we left San Pedro at 8:30. After lunch, we found a bus that was going to Ocotepeque, but it didn't leave until 3. That bus was a 2 and a half hour ride to the new area. We didnt get to our house till about 6:15. Then, we went to meet a member or two and ate dinner with one of them.  Long trip.

Ocotepeque is normally about 6 hours away from my last area. It is a small town in the very Southwestern corner of Honduras. It is beautiful here. The people here are amazing. The weather is amazing! I haven't taken any pictures of the area yet, because I kind of slacked off about that, but next week I will have some.
Anyway, my new comp is Elder Sibaja from Oaxaca, Mexico. I am excited to get to work here in Ocotepeque and teach the gospel to the people here. The challenge here is that the church is somewhat small, there are about 40-50 that come to church, so we are really working to bring more people into the church. Anyway, I hope everyone has a good week, and that those who were affected by flooding continue to recover.

    Transfers. Sounds like it's going to be great. He is a good kid, as papa would say.

Raining fish and 1,000,000 degrees

Heyo! This past week was really good. We were able to teach Jackelin and also Emili. It has been amazing to see the change that has happened in Jackelin's life. When we first found her, she was a little bit beat down by life. But, now she is so happy, and she has a hope for her life that she didn't have before. We are still teaching Jorge and Maria, and they are awesome. Jorge has a desire to change his life, he is just is a little scared that he will mess up and he doesn't want that. But, when we mess up there is always a chance to come back to the correct path. Through the Savior, Jesus Christ, we can truly change, even when we continue to mess up. We can continue to pick ourselves back up, and continue to do what we know is right. Also, this week was the hottest week I have had since being here. The fans have stopped helping, because all they do now is blow hot air on us, and it is worse than not having any fan at all. But, we are finding other ways to cool off.

Pday!!!!

So Wednesdays will be my pday. The first week here has been awesome, and I am so excited to be here. In my district there are 10 of us. 8 Elders and 2 hermanas. Our leader, Elder Pututau comitted to play linebacker at Utah, and he is really cool. He is a huuuugee Tongan. For the most part our classes here are all in Spanish, but our teachers are super good. We have an "investigator" he is really one of my teachers, that we have to teach a lesson to everyday, and the lessons have to be in Spanish. Its really hard, but im starting to get a hang of talking about church things in Spanish, i still am not very good at talking everyday Spanish to the Latinos here :), but im working on it. My companion is from Orem Utah, his name is Elder Maynes, and we`ve gotten along pretty well. Sorry if there are any typos in here, this keyboard is really weird, the shift key is about the size of a tictac. So far with our "investigator" we have gotten to the third lesson, and its going

New Area: Smith 1

Ok. Super busy week. So this last week we had to move areas but we stayed in the same ward. The new area is called Smith 1 and it takes in the neighborhoods Barandillas and Barrio Smith. We found someone with a car to help us move everything so that was a big help. The new apartment is really good, it is a lot bigger than the old one. The only bad thing is that there are 3 dogs that are owned by the land lord. 1 of them is super chill, Sacha, and really awesome. The other two are little rat dogs named Chispa and Toto that never stop barking. The area has a lot more people just walking around, and it is a little bit nicer, so we will see how that plays out. We have 4 investigators who are progressing pretty well, Lester Garcia, Armando Martinez, and Jose and Esperanza. Lester is making progress slowly but surely, he has come to church a lot and is friends with several members. Armando has only come to church 1 time but always is asking questions about the church and is really intereste
